The American Industrial Hygiene Assn. (AIHA) serves the needs of occupational and environmental health professionals practicing industrial hygiene in industry, government, labor, and other organizations. AIHA works with the American Board of Industrial Hygiene to promote certification of industrial hygienists; administers education programs for occupational and environmental health and safety professionals; and operates accreditation programs for microbiology laboratories and others, based on international standards. These programs help ensure the quality of the data used in making critical decisions about worker protection.
