Truth: RFID Can be Hacked

The effectiveness of radio frequency identification (RFID) technology as an anti-counterfeiting tool is exaggerated. The problem is that this technology, recommended to authenticate drugs for the largest consuming market, can be easily hacked. This is because most supply chain software is written without security in mind. According to this white paper from Authentication News, public safety is at risk when false assumptions are made about RFID. As well, there are many technologies that can perform similar roles as RFID which are much more difficult to alter.
