The application of solution calorimetry to quantify amorphous lactose

by Thermometric Inc.

This white paper by Thermometric AB discusses the application of solution calorimetry to quantify amorphous lactose. The experiment found that enthalpy of the solution was found to increase in a linear fashion with decreasing amorphous content. The enthalpies of the solution were calculated for both vacuum-dried and desiccated partially amorphous samples. Solution calorimetry provides a good method by which to detect and quantify the amorphous composition of materials of small degrees of disorder.
