Though there are other technologies, dry heat sterilization has emerged as the most useful contamination elimination technology for equipment chamber surfaces. This white paper by Thermo Electron Corp. describes the heat sterilization cycle, which eliminates vegetative microorganisms and persistent fungal spores. It also explains cycle time, which is based on validation procedures using commercially available spore suspensions calibrated for dry heat resistance.
