Near-infrared analysis of powder moisture in a fluid bed drier

by Bruker Optics Inc.

Drying powders to a known moisture-solvent content is critical to ensuring that the correct powder characteristics are controlled for the next step in the process. Fluid bed driers are commonly used in pharmaceutical manufacturing to dry powdered product prior to blending and tableting. This white paper by Bruker Optics Inc. describes the near-infrared spectrometer and emission head, which has four sources and can be controlled individually depending on the sample reflectivity. This system is used to monitor the moisture content of a powder in a fluid bed drier bowl.
