The removal of residual moisture and solvents from the crystallization, filtration and drying steps of drug manufacturing is crucial to producing a stable product. However, an alternative to the traditional time-consuming moisture analysis methods, such as Karl-Fischer titration method or loss on drying, and solvent analysis method such as headspace GC analysis, is NIR spectroscopy, which has high sensitivity, especially to moisture, is fast and nondestructive and has a high degree of automation.
